His literary journey began in the late 1950s, when his first short story “57 साल पुराना आदमी” (The Man That Existed 57 Years Ago) was published in 1959 in Manohar Kahaniya, a widely read Hindi magazine of its time. He followed this early success with his first full-length novel, “Purane Gunah Naye Gunahgar”, published in 1963.
